SCALES, Apothecaries' in Box with Weights

a. Hand scales with 7.7 cm beams and two brass pans. User holds tassel which is attached to metal frame containing the balance needle and the box-end beams. The pans are suspended from the beams on each side by three lengths of fine twine. b. Wooden box with fabric lining, to hold scales. A separate compartment has been included, for the weights. c. Eleven weights comprising one of each: two drams, one dram, two scruples, half dram, one scruple (all rounded weights); two drams, one dram (flat rectangular weights); four paper-thin metal weights, possibly grain measures, one marked with six pin head sized depressions, one with five, one four, and another marked "4".
