This box is for pegs or dowel 5/8 inch in diameter. The end of a threaded rod projects 1/2 cm from the bottom of the box. Marks around it indicate a washer or something of similar size has been previously attached. The side of the box is stamped 'J.H. SUTTON / BIRMINGHAM' The ends are stamped 'J.H. SUTTON'. One end is also stamped 'J. UTTING'. The bottom is stamped 'W. MARPLES & SON / HIBERNIA' with a three leaved emblem.
