Two-sided banner; painted canvas image sewn onto red velvet back. Side one: painted image: "Painted on canvas and stitched to the red background, a worker in overalls, virile and alert, stands astride the Earth. Spread before him is a blueprint from which he is taking a size. His feet are firmly set with disdain amongst the broken munitions of war" (see ref below). Side two: "AMALGAMATED ENGINEERING UNION" painted in gold canvas lettering stitched onto the velvet. Beneath image of modern industrial collage depicting "The worthwhile products of engineering skill ... a giant powerhouse flanked by two latticed steel wireless masts makes a background to a modern diesel electric locomotive, a heavy motor truck and a steamship. Above flies a commercial airplane". (see ref below). Hand and machine stitched; lined in red hatcloth.
