Medal [.c]: Knights Bachelor's neck badge awarded to Sir Daniel Aarons in 1974 as a replacement for the original outdated edsign breast badge awarded in 1970 for services to the community. The neck badge was worn around the enck on a gold and red ribbon. It is similar in design to the breast badge (CH1983.484) except it is smaller and has a plain edge instead of the laurel wreath of the breast badge, and has a 1.5cm long D-shaped silver loop for wearing with the ribbon attached to the top of the medal. It bears the following hallmarks on the back of the medal: (11?)/ HG /lion passant/ leopard head/ 't'. London, 1974. The silver ribbon loop bears the lion passant. Ribbons: [.a] Broad red ribbon with gold edging. It is designed to be worn around the neck and consequently has three tucks sewn at regular intervals along it's length and a brass eye and hook sewn at other end. These are sewn into the ribbon at either end and where the ribbon corners have been folded over and sewn.
[.b] The narrower ribbon is of the same colour scheme and design except at either end the ribbon has been folded over and sewn down the centre for a length of 9cm. To one end has been fixed a metal hook and the other end, instead of a matching metal eye, has been sewn with a series of five cotton threat loops sewn at intervals down the length of the ribbon.
