White lawn. Bodice "V" shaped panel of Ayreshire work with needlework lace fillings. Edged with frill. Short sleeves, also embroidered with 2 small frills and edged with 2 frills, piped onto sleeve. Back has frill. Fastens with draw-tapes at neck and waist. Small waistband embroidered with knots. Very long skirt, hand stroked onto hand. Widening panel of Ayreshire work, edged with frill. Scalloped and embroidered edge at hem. Seams etc. all hand sewn. Reference: Cunnington & Buck, CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND, pages 183 to 185.
