Grey-blue, printed pattern. Edge decorated in lines, flowers & white scrolls. Scene in bowl: 2 boats in stream, with stone bridge, castle & trees i background. Mark on base, printed in under-glaze grey-blue: "RIDGWAYS" (crossi a bow) \ STOKE on TRENT \ scrolls containing "Rhine". Nairn no. 90. Ridgways, Bedford works, Hanley. Formerly Ridgway, Sparks & Ridgway. 1879-1920. This mark registered 1880 but early examples did not include "Stoke on Trent". Ref: Godden, Encyclopaedia, (1964), page 539, no. 3310.
