A wonderful snapshot of beautiful, intricately carved Ngaanyatjarra wooden toys brought to life with children's stories and animation. Developed by Tjuma Pulka.
Punu Tjukurrpa Tjitji is a culturally significant exhibition of intricately carved wooden children’s toys from the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. The toys are over 80 years of age and will be brought to life using animation, soundscape and stories – featuring the Desert Sand Mole.
In all cultures ‘play’ is an essential part of human life and it is healthy for children’s development, assisting them to acquire physical, social, and cognitive skills. The toys in this exhibition were used to teach children to identify different animals, and we learn about the personality of the Desert Sand Mole and how he became blind.
