WA Museum Boola Bardip turns one

It has been one year since the WA Museum Boola Bardip opened its doors and the Museum is inviting all West Australians to join the party!

On Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 November the Museum is celebrating with fun family activities, free tours and events, performances by musicians and DJs, expert talks, a yoga class and meditation sessions, and more!

Western Australian Museum CEO Alec Coles said this weekend was a great time to explore the Museum’s eight permanent exhibitions, unique collections and personal stories.

“This weekend we come together for a fantastic birthday celebration and to thank Western Australians for embracing their Museum. It has been gratifying to see the WA Museum Boola Bardip bustling with people since opening and receiving such wonderful feedback from our visitors,” Mr Coles said.

Since opening, the Museum has welcomed close to 700,000 visitors and received a number of prestigious awards, including the State’s highest award for architectural excellence – the George Temple Poole award.

As part of the festivities, architects from the award-winning design team Hassell+OMA will give a free guided tour of the spectacular building and surrounds.

The Museum is also partnering with the Foundation for the WA Museum for a one-off long table dinner under Otto the blue whale in the heritage-listed Hackett Hall building.

“The long table dinner will be an event to remember, with exceptional food and wine in a truly spectacular setting,” Mr Coles said.

Tickets to the 18+ event can be purchased from the Foundation for the WA Museum’s website, with proceeds going to the Foundation’s Discovery Endowment Fund which supports the WA Museum.
