Wild Goose Lecture - ‘Reflections on the Fenians in Australia’ by Fenian descendant Bernie Brophy

In January 1868, the last convict ship to Australia, the Hougoumont arrived in Fremantle. On board were 62 Irish political prisoners, known as Fenians who carried with them seven editions of a hand-written newspaper, the Wild Goose.

To commemorate this literary achievement the Fenians Festival invites you to a lecture by prominent Australian/Irish human rights lawyer, Bernie Brophy. He will reflect on the contributions made to Australia by his forebear, Hugh Francis Brophy, a builder whose skills were in high demand in the early Colony, and other prominent Fenians.
