The History of Migration Experiences (HOME) Centre at Curtin University, in conjunction with the Western Australian Museum, are hosting a series of interviews with prominent migrants who came to live in Western Australia.

Musician Johnny Young, founder and former host of Young Talent Time, and Perth entertainer Max Kay are the next guests to be interviewed at the Maritime Museum. Johnny Young, born Johnny de Jong, migrated to Australia with his family from the Netherlands in the 1950s. Born in Scotland, Max Kay came to Perth in 1967.

The HOME series of interviews will explore the lives of well-known migrant families from Western Australia. Verity James will discuss the guests’ personal experience of migration and settlement in Australia, as well as about the challenges and opportunities they encountered on their path to success.

Come meet the interviewees, hear their stories and participate with your questions.

This event is the second in a series of interviews, which will take place bi-monthly. The program’s first guests were former Western Australia Governor Ken Michael and his wife, Julie Michael. Both born in Australia, they spoke candidly about their experience growing up in Greek migrant families. The HOME Centre is part of the Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP).
