After careful consideration and evaluation, the site of the Welcome Walls at Albany has been announced.
The Albany Welcome Walls will be located onsite at the Western Australian Museum –Albany, adjacent to the historic Residency building and the Amity Pond.

The Western Australian Museum has received final approvals to build the Welcome Walls at Fremantle.
In a project of this kind, many stakeholders have to be consulted. The Western Australian Museum has worked closely with Fremantle Ports to receive approval from the Department of Lands, the Heritage Council of Western Australia and the City of Fremantle.
Final approval was received last week from the Western Australian Planning Commission. This brings the Fremantle Welcome Walls another step closer to completion.

Today, the Minister for Culture and the Arts, Hon. John Day, announced the new design concepts and project timeline for the completion of the Welcome Walls at the Western Australian Museum – Maritime in Fremantle.
Adjacent to the Museum at Victoria Quay, the migrant tribute will be completed by the end of 2010.
The Minister has endorsed the design concepts drawn up to complete the walls by architects Cox Howlett and Bailey Woodland and the formal planning approvals process can now begin.
