The WA Museum would like to alert people to a scam that was recently reported to Consumer Protection regarding the continuation of people's inscriptions on the Welcome Walls at the Maritime Museum in Fremantle. The scam involved at least two people telephoning a registrant to demand payment of $599 in order to have their plaque secured for a further period of time, as 10 years had passed since the name plaque was first been erected.

Please be advised that the Western Australian Museum is not seeking any funds for the continued display of inscriptions, and that no inscriptions are being removed from the Welcome Walls
