SS Karrakatta was operated by the Australasian Steam Navigation Company. She was advertised as a high class passenger steamer, specially constructed for the trade between Fremantle and Singapore, calling at all North-West ports: Geraldton, Shark’s Bay, Carnarvon Roads, Ashburton Roads, Cossack Roads, Pearling Grounds, Broome, Derby and Singapore. Karrakatta was built in 1897 and wrecked in 1901. There are no known photographs of the vessel and this portrait is an important representation of this vessel.
