Escape from Pompeii: the untold Roman rescue will be showing at the WA Maritime Museum from Friday 22 September 2017 until Sunday 4 February 2018.

The WA Museum is pleased to offer an exhibition preview night for teachers and educators. Join us to explore the exhibition, learn the background story, and gain ideas for how you can engage and inspire your students.

Come and explore the world of ancient Pompeii as we offer a hands-on learning session to complement your visit to Escape from Pompeii: the untold Roman rescue. We will get up close and personal with a Roman soldier’s uniform and equipment, take a look at the fashion of the times with our toga tying and costume demonstration, take a peek into the daily life of a naval town and more.

Investigating History (Year 7)

Date: 23 - 27 October 2017
Time: 10am, 11am, 12pm
Cost: $160 per session (GST inclusive)

Join us for a facilitated class workshop where we take a maritime archaeology challenge to identify a shipwreck in the Bay of Naples near Vesuvius. Your team’s job will be to investigate the site, identify the artefacts and piece together the evidence to reveal our shipwreck’s story.

Please note there is a maximum of 34 students per session. Additional fees apply for entry to the exhibition; entry to the rest of the Museum is free.
