Magnificent Chromdoris

Chomodoris magnifica

The striking color stripes of blue, black and orange-yellow is noticeable in this and other closely similar species. This pattern has been found to not be species-specific with genetic tools revealing that the same species can have a range of color patterns.

Evolution

This complex of species is currently under study at WAM by PhD candidate Kara Layton.

Distribution

This is a widespread Indo-west Pacific species. In Australia, it is known from the outer reefs of northwestern Australia (C. Bryce seaslug forum 1999) and Queensland (Australian Fauna Directory website, searched 2/06/2017).
