Dress, 'marine' silk, halter neck style, backless, above-the-knee, with ribbon-like detail,'water rebel', designed by 'Tarvydas', Perth, Western Australia, SS14.

H2018.158

The fitted evening dress is made from marine blue silk. The plunging v-neckline finishes in a halter

with a tie closure, and consists of a single layer of fabric. The dress is backless. The skirt finishes

above-the-knee. Self-fabric ribbon-like detail with over-locked edges has been applied to the garment

in horizontal and vertical placements; the applique is secured with a cluster of stitches that gathers

the fabric at that point to create a fan-like shape. The effect of the applique creates movement when

the dress is on the body. Fully lined with teal polyester/spandex lining.

History:

This style was worn by Rhianna on GMTV, and for the cover shoot for the December 2006 issue of

'Touch' magazine. This style was re-made for the Sea Mermaid collection for Spring/Summer 2014 (SS14).
