Dress, purple French lurex, strapless with shirred fitted bodice, above-the-knee skirt with tiered ruffles and disconnected tie detail, designed by 'Ruth Tarvydas', Perth, Western Australia, 1991.

This fabric is a purple metallic French lurex with a tartan-like check in red and brown on the reverse

side. [.1] This strapless evening dress has a fitted bodice is shirred through the centre front to

create pleats. An additional layer through the back has been added to create long tails for a centre

back tie detail.4 rows of ruffles adorn the top of the garment. The tiered, short skirt features 3 layers.

The garments closure is a zip through the centre back. [.2] The belt for the garment is a tie belt in self-fabric.

History: 

This dress was designed and made in Australia by Ruth Tarvydas in 1991. It featured in the Curtin

'House of Tarvydas' (HOT) exhibition in 2008.
