Dress, ivory silk, halter neck style with ruched detail and contrast sequins, '3753 wanted', designed by 'Tarvydas', Perth, Western Australia, AW11.

H2018.153

This full length evening dress is made from ruched ivory silk with an embellished neckline. The dress

has a halter neckline that plunges through the bust in a u-shape and finished with a tied closure.

The u-shape of the neckline is accentuated with contrast detail consisting of black, clear and graphite

faux jewels that curve under the bust. This faux-jewelled detail continues on each tie of the halter,

and is  attached to the top seam of the bust, in a rectangular shape that extends on each tie for 16cm.

The ruching through the bust is created by folding the fabric. The bust has padded inserts. Below the

bust-line the gathered fabric on the front and back of the garment is divided into thirds by vertical

stitches, adding a scalloped effect to the ruching when the garment is on the body. The gown is

fitted throughout, but flares slightly towards the bottom of the skirt. The garment is backless and

has a central invisible zip closure.

History:

This dress was part of the Tarvydas Autumn/Winter 2011 (AW11) Blood Rose collection. This style

appears to be an evolution of the '3356 dynasty' shown at Mercedes Benz Australian Fashion Week

(MBAFW) in 2008 for the Spring/Summer 2009 (SS09) collection.
