Hard felt hat, black, 'bowler' style with black grosgrain ribbon edging and hat band with partial bow to wearer's right hand side. Red satin ruched inner lining with gold manufacturuer's stamp to inside crown with coat of arms depicting two griffins facing each other over a crest. Words printed below 'NEWMAN HOUSE,/90-92 OXFORD STREET, W. Gold banner below in three unfurled segments with the words BRANCHES / THROUGHOUT / LONDON'.
