Circular silver metal medal with raised rim. OBVERSE: Background is recessed with uneven textured metal surface. Raised lettering around inside of rim reads 'ADVANCE AUSTRALIA/ AWARD'. Raised triangle motif in centre with small curved section in centre of bottom triangle side. Triangle is divided into two sections, the top half has a smooth metal finish and the lower half of triangle is recessed with an Australian flag detail (union jack in top left and southern cross stars). REVERSE: textured, pitted metal surface. Engraved text reads 'BEN LEXCEN' and 'YACHTING' above and below raised text reading 'FOR OUTSTANDING/ CONTRIBUTION'. Smooth medal collar attached to top of medal with circular hole in centre at top. Small silver metal ring looped through hole. Second gold metal ring looped through silver ring. A green and yellow striped ribbon made out of ribbed cotton material is threaded through the gold metal loop. Ribbon is green with two thick yellow stripes.
