Hand-coloured black and white photograph of 'Riders in the Invitation Stakes, 1953' seated in group. Mounted on chipboard, the photograph has been glued? to a composite-wood matt board and framed in gold-coloured metal with glass front. Frank Treen is second from the right in the front row. Floral writing says 'These riders competed in the MRC 3rd Invitation Stakes at Caulfield / Show Day, September 24th 1953'...'Race won by St Joel riden by G.Hughes (N.Z.) Macfarlane 2nd Rio Janeiro 3rd' Signed right corner by photographer 'Tony Simon - 165 Bourke St Melbourne'. On back, chipboard is stamped 'EASY PICTURE FRAMERS...PINJARRA'; stainless steel screws hold frame corners, and nylon hanging cord spans back.
