Applecross Senior High School magazine for the year 1961, the first year in which they had fourth year students and were a senior high school. The magazine is called "The / Scimitar" and this is on the front cover below the crest of the school. At the bottom of the front cover is "NOVEMBER, 1961 VOL. 3 / EDITED AND PRODUCED BY THE STUDENTS". At the top of the page, "Margaret Hudson-Taylor / 4c" is written in pencil. The back cover has the crest again and "Printed by West Australian Newspapers Ltd." The magazine has 48 pages. The magazine contains a wide range of information on the activities of the students including many photographs of students lined up in their school uniform or sports uniform. The contents include the following : Editorial, photo of Scimitar committee, photograph of school prefects 1961, article about growth of school from its establishment, poetry and prose awards and a large selection of entries submitted, the school cadet unit - activities and photograph, the ASHS Dramatic Society notes and photograph of committee, the Playhouse Junior Theatre Club news, Interschools Christian Fellowship news, School Dance review, reproductions of student art, information on sporting events and photographs of athletics team, state representatives in various sports, football team, boys' hockey, softball, swimming, soccer, girls' basketball, tennis, rugby, girls' senior hockey and baseball. Margaret Hudson-Taylor (now Mendelawitz) is in the girls' senior hockey photograph on page 46, and the softball photograph on page 41.
