CUSHION COVER Victoriana Christmas

Piece of silk with two identical panels for use as cushion cover. Cream silk with a black print, each panel has edges of holly leaves and berries that form frames or wreath around various christmas scenes. Scenes are : - Men skating on frozen lake in front of waterfall. - Christmas cake with Queen and two figures decorating it. - Ballroom scene of men and women dressed formally. - Game - rabbit, duck and bird strung from rope. - 3 masked carnivalesque figures and 5 with flower cord. - Family with father carving christmas pudding. - Fruits and wines on table (still life). Centre of each panel has stylized and symmetrical berry bush with central flower. Very English design; fine print under scene of ballroom "I.K. Gardener".
