LEVEE DRESS

Man's court dress. Cutaway coat, knee breeches, waistcoat and hat.
Addition 22.11.1985:
(a) Coat: black silk velvet; curved front edges, collarless; 6 decorative cut steel buttons, faux buttonholes; long, wide sleeves with deep turn-back cuffs; waist seam with pseudo-pocket flaps at back; tails, marked by 2 cut steel buttons at waist and hem of slit; lined with quilted white silk twill at front and yellow silk twill at back.
(b) Breeches of black silk velvet; fly front with 6 buttons; pockets at side seams; slit at knee with 3 small cut steel buttons and cut steel buckle; lined with yellow silk twill.
(c) Waistcoat: black silk velvet front; black silk twill back; low V neck, single breasted; 4 small cut steel buttons; 2 inset pockets; lined with white silk twill.
(d) Hat: coked bicorne, black silk plush; front decorated with a cut steel ornament with 4 flat steel chains looped to the inside crown over a flat black moire bow.
Hand and machine-sewn. Little worn.
