Woodside CEO and Managing Director Peter Coleman welcomes the State Government’s commitment to build a new museum in the Perth Cultural Centre.
Since 1995 we have supported the Western Australian Museum (WAM) to undertake ground-breaking research into the marine biodiversity of the north west of WA,
We welcome the decision to create a new home for this amazing body of work, a place which will contribute significantly to the vibrancy of the Perth cultural precinct.
Our collaboration with the WA Museum has also won major Australian environmental and business arts awards. I look forward to seeing the State’s vision for a new museum building come to fruition

We are delighted by the commitment by our Government to build the museum. To me it represents one of the most real, meaningful and permanent initiatives I have seen from any Government to retain for future generations, the hard work and economic benefits of the mining industry.
Western Australia of course badly needs a new museum. However how wonderful it is that the government is courageously taking this opportunity seriously. The new museum will be critical and a wonderful social infrastructure.
Our contribution was to do what we could to help the museum attract further support and we knew of the distant potential of the State Government, so we are thrilled to see it occur.
At the time the museum contribution was our largest single contribution to culture and the arts we had ever made. I remember we swallowed hard on the decision. Nicola and I are therefore delighted to have provided the support we have, and we congratulate you loudly for thus great achievement.
