Enjoy a weekend of family fun with French inspired activities as we launch our French Explorers in Western Australia exhibitions season.

Family events include live music, circus performers, exhibition tours, kids craft activities, face painting, photo opportunities, car displays, and storytelling. Plus enjoy a delicious range of French inspired food at our Museum café!

Saturday 15 September program

  • Little Explorers Story Time (10am and 11am)
  • Kids Activities : Make a cool Captain's spyglass or craft your own Rose de Freycinet dress up doll (10am-12pm)
  • French car display (10am-3pm)
  • Exhibition floor talk, Louis de Freycinet: The first map of Australia and his return to France Australe, with curator Dr Michael McCarthy (11am)
  • Face painting with Rosie O (10am-12pm)
  • Exhibition floor talk, Finding Uranie & Rose de Freycinet: The Western Australian Museum  in the Falkland Islands, with curator Dr Michael McCarthy (1pm)
  • Fencing WA 'have a go' session (1pm-3pm)
  • Live music, featuring Nikki D'Agostino, Perth's foremost accordionist (2pm-4pm)
  • Great coffee, pastries, and other delicious treats at the Museum café (11am-4pm)

Sunday 16 September program

  • Little Explorers Story Time (10am and 11am)
  • Face painting with Rosie O (10am-12pm)
  • French car display (10am-3pm)
  • All ages Circus Workshop - Explore new skills with the great team from Yip Yip Circus (11am-12pm)
  • Exhibition floor talk, The Great Captains: Baudin and Flinders, Hamelin and  de Freycinet, with curator Dr Michael McCarthy (11am)
  • Roving Circus Performance (12.30pm-2.30pm)
  • Exhibition floor talk, The WA Museum's French Connection Program: 20-years-old and  so much more to do, with curator Dr Michael McCarthy (1pm)
  • Fencing WA 'have a go' session (1pm-3pm)
  • Live music, featuring Voudou Zazou : Traditional French songs and classic jazz (2pm-4pm)
  • Great coffee, pastries, and other delicious treats at the Museum café (11am-4pm)
