To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the end of whaling in Australia, the WA Shipwrecks Museum presents a selection of images taken by professional photographer Ed Smidt that capture the last days of commercial sperm whaling at the Cheynes Beach Whaling Station, Albany.

The free exhibition also features a life-sized sketch of an adolescent humpback whale sighted off the coast of Fremantle during the southern migration in 2017, by local artist Ross Potter.
