Now in its seventh year, Astrofest celebrates and showcases Western Australian astrophotographers and astro-imagers. The 2016 exhibition showcases the superb accomplishments of twenty talented Western Australian astro-imagers to record stunning astronomical landscape images in locations throughout Western Australia and beyond. Deep space objects are shown in extraordinary detail, using telescope based imaging combined with the power of sophisticated image processing.

The Astrofest Astrophotography exhibition is an annual photographic exhibition curated by Dr John Goldsmith of Celestial Visions. It is presented at Western Australia’s biggest annual astronomy festival in Perth, as well as being on display as part of the Mount Magnet astro-rocks festival and the Western Australian Museum – Geraldton’s travelling exhibition program . The exhibition’s major sponsors are the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research and Lotterywest.

The exhibition has been brought to Geraldton through the support of the Western Australian Museum, Scinapse: Science Engagement in the Mid West and Inspiring Australia.
