WA Day balloon

The WA Museum will be open from 10am – 4.30pm so come and explore our galleries and collections. 

Experience the stories of the indigenous Noongar people and the influence of Mokare, a young Noongar warrior, as well as the stories of the early settlers and convicts. Discover the region's unique natural landscape, flora and fauna and meet some of our live reptiles and animals.

On WA Day we’re offering free entry on board the Brig Amity and our staff will be running a Collections Roadshow, where we explain significant WA collections and how we care for them.  You can bring along your valued objects and ask our staff to tell you more!

Relax

On WA Day we’ll be creating a festival event in the Museum Grounds so come and relax, explore and play at the WA Museum with these fabulous activities:

Performances (throughout the day)

The whole family can enjoy performances by Southern Edge Arts as they present a circus performance.

The Lockyer Leapers will mesmerise you with their skipping skills or come along and be entertained by the Bush Poets.

Music (From noon onwards)

Sit back and RELAX while listening to the fantastic local talent of Powder Keg Reunion Band, the Noongar Band and brilliant Didgeridoo Player Graeme Simpson.  

Kids’ Activities (throughout the day)

Bouncy castles, face painting, kite making and Jamie the Clown with his amazing balloon skills will have the kids enthralled and entertained!  

Community Canvas, Artsource

Suitable for all ages

Contribute to a Community Canvas that will enhance your understanding of Aboriginal culture and identity. Interact, watch, learn and listen while creating a unique artwork with one of the oldest living cultures on Earth today. The Community Canvas project is proudly supported by Iluka Resources. 

Sea of Hands

Show your support for Reconciliation by participating in a Sea of Hands art installation which has become a symbol for reconciliation, rights and respect in Australia.

Mask-making

Children can design a numbat or a Western Australian frog mask and wear their creations home.

Postcards from Paradise

Suitable for children aged 7 and up

Children work can design a beautiful postcard and share their ideas on how to relax in WA.

Food

There will be a community sausage sizzle, Red Cross morning tea as well as food and drink to purchase.
