Below The Seabed –
The story of oil & gas

image01

The two most important elements in both crude oil and natural gas are carbon and hydrogen. As such, both are referred to as hydrocarbons. The uppermost crust of the earth in hydrocarbon producing areas is composed of sedimentary rock layers. Sedimentary rocks are source and reservoir rocks for gas and oil. During the vast expanse of geological time, sea levels have varied, depositing sediments. These ancient sediments piled layer upon layer, form the sedimentary rocks that are drilled to find hydrocarbons.
