Love is...

MuseumExhibitions's blog | Created 1 decade ago

Love means a lot of very different things to different people.

As the Museum hosts the Unveiled: 200 years of wedding glamour exhibition, we thought it would be interesting (and fun) to ask you, our visitors, what love and marriage means to you.

This blog will each week showcase some of the responses that our visitors have written on the five chalkboards around the Museum. The chalkboards ask...

  • Love is...
  • Why get married?
  • What is the craziest thing you have done for love?
  • How has love changed you?
  • What is the best ingredient for happily ever after?

Here are some of this weeks' responses...

Love is... Caring, delighting each other, acts of service, hugs and kisses.

Why get married? For the fabulous party, 20 years of love, friendship, company, love and laughter, to have a family and children, Don't!, I can't - it hasn't been legalised yet.

What is the craziest thing you have done for love?  Gave a kidney, moved to the other side of the world, got married after 2 dates, moved to the other side of the world, came here, gave up my identity.

How has love changed you? My heart grew and I learned to forgive, put on 20kg, my parents divorced I don't want to love, made me a softer person, I feel content always...

What is the best ingredient for happily ever after? Don't be so serious, laugh and love, truth, chocolate, make each other laugh, marriage equality, listen to your wife, a short memory.

We hope you enjoy these responses and do pop in to the Museum and post your own responses on our Love is... chalkboards.
