The WA Museum is seeking proposals from Nyoongar artists for a commissioned artwork about the night sky.

The original artwork is for display in the New Museum for WA, which opens in late 2020 in the Perth Cultural Centre.

The artwork will be displayed in an exhibition called Origins which includes objects and stories that relate to the formation of the Universe, Earth and Western Australian’s unique land formations. The artwork will be displayed in an area called Cosmos,  about the ways in which people understand the night sky.  The artwork  will present a Nyoongar perspective about the night sky, as interpreted by the artist.

The proposal will be selected based on how well it fits the look, mood, and feel of the space, it’s creative response to the space and its responses to the themes of the Cosmos section. Further information about the gallery can be found in the Request for Quote document downloadable below.

Artists may choose to work collaboratively or independently. The value of this commission is up to $10,000 (inc GST).

After reading the Request for Quote, should you have further questions please contact the Senior Project Officer, Communications and Engagement at erika.jellis@museum.wa.gov.au

Proposals are due by 4pm Monday 14 October.
