World class consortia on New Museum shortlist

Culture and the Arts Minister John Day today announced that three world-class consortia led by Brookfield Multiplex, John Holland and a joint venture between Doric Group and Técnicas Reunidas, have been short-listed to design and construct Western Australia’s New Museum.

The consortia include international design firms Foster and Partners, responsible for the British Museum’s Great Court and now working with local architects Hames Sharley (led by John Holland); Ateliers Jean Nouvel, responsible for the Musée du Quai Branley in Paris and now working with local architects Cameron Chisholm Nicol and Parry and Rosenthal Architects (led by Doric Group and Técnicas Reunidas); and OMA, responsible for the Musée National Des Beaux Arts in Quebec and now working with local architects HASSELL (led by Brookfield Multiplex).

These three teams will now work with Government on their design proposals to ensure they meet the State’s functional and operational requirements.

The successful Managing Contractor team will be selected in 2015 with the New Museum due to open in 2020.  You can read the Minister's full statement here.
