Brickman Cities - New York

Discover the history of the world’s greatest cities and help create your own cities of the future when Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY arrives at the WA Maritime Museum in April.

TEG Live and the Western Australian Museum have partnered to bring this exciting new interactive experience from Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught to Western Australia.

WA Museum CEO Alec Coles said following a successful run in Sydney, the Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY experience is sure to be a crowd pleaser here in WA and that tickets, which went on sale this morning through Ticketek, will sell fast.

“This is not just an exhibition, it is an interactive experience where everyone who attends helps build a new version of a particular city based on what they think it will look like in the future,” Mr Coles said.

Brickman Cities focuses on some of the world’s greatest cities – Dubai, London, New York, Sydney and Tokyo. It has all of Brickman’s trademark cut-away detailed models representing three different stages of each city’s history from 1000AD up to the present day and shows how each has evolved and grown.”

Brickman’s trademark interactive build experiences are hugely popular with LEGO® fans of all ages, but Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY adds a new dimension with cutting-edge technology to advance the experience.

“The centrepiece of Brickman Cities is a 3m x 4m scale model of Lower Manhattan built entirely from white LEGO bricks, enabling 3D stories of the city to be projected directly onto them,” Mr Coles said.

“The 3D story of New York takes visitors from the days of the First People’s villages amongst the swamps of the River Delta, right up until the present day.”

As part of the experience, there is an interactive master builder zone offering children the opportunity to get hands-on with more than half a million LEGO® bricks, sparking their own creativity and building the LEGO® CITY of tomorrow.

Both great fun and educational, Brickman Cities took more than 1,500 hours to build and uses more than 900,000 LEGO® bricks. Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught said the creative team spent a further 250 hours developing sophisticated 3D projections to bring the hero city of New York to life.

“To integrate 3D projection technology with bricks is something I never thought was even possible, let alone for it to tell such a cool story,” Mr McNaught said.

“People around the world have seen amazing projections on buildings, so imagine being able to project and tell stories on a whole city which is what visitors will witness at this unique LEGO experience!”

Brickman Cities also features a brand-new collaboration with LEGO® CITY – an entire wall devoted to showcasing the history of LEGO® CITY, with CITY Fire Stations spanning many decades.

Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY is Brickman’s fourth LEGO® brick experience and has been exclusively curated and built by Ryan McNaught and his expert team. McNaught is the only LEGO® Certified Professional in the Southern Hemisphere and one of only 14 in the world. Brickman is a team of skilled LEGO® brick artists and craftspeople led by McNaught.

This exciting interactive LEGO® experience will be held at the WA Maritime Museum, Fremantle from Friday 5 April to Sunday 5 May 2019.

Brickman Cities powered by LEGO® CITY opens daily at 9.30am, with each session lasting for up to an hour.
