Entrance to the Western Australian Museum - Perth

Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Western Australian Museum Mr Tim Ungar has welcomed the State Government’s announcement to fund a new museum.

“The Western Australian Museum has a long and proud history within the Cultural Centre and we look forward to the opportunity to develop a flagship State Museum,” Mr Ungar said.

Since officially opening in 1891 the WA Museum has made major contributions to the collection, conservation and research of the State’s heritage.

“The Museum looks forward to the ability to showcase the excellent work of our science and research staff and allowing greater access to the State’s vast collections,” Mr Ungar said.

Throughout all aspects of the project the WA Museum will aim to connect with the Western Australian community and its visitors using new technology and new ways of presenting the collections.

“The Western Australian Museum looks forward to working with the State Government to progress the plans for the new museum,” Mr Ungar said.
