The WA Museum is seeking expressions of interest from the local community to join its WA Maritime Museum Advisory Committee.

The Committee’s role is to advise the WA Museum on issues relating to:

  • Museum content;
  • Public programs including community engagement (e.g., hosting community “open days”, public lectures, and educational programs);
  • Promoting the Museum within the community, noting that any media engagement or activity that relates to the Museum must be approved by the Museum’s CEO;
  • Developing strong working local partnerships;
  • Providing a community perspective on the museum operations;
  • Facility redevelopment and forward planning;
  • Assisting in advancing the commercial and fundraising opportunities of the site through networking within the local community; and
  • Providing practical support, where requested, for example, by utilising the range of expertise and community contact on the Site Advisory Committee.

The Advisory Committee meets four times per year to consider general business—and four times per year to advise the New Museum Project.

There are three committee member positions available and the WA Museum is inviting Western Australians to submit an Expression of Interest to join the Committee.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the WA Museum’s Maritime Museum Advisory Committee, please send a copy of your CV and a short expression of interest (maximum one A4 page) of why you would like to join and what particular skills or knowledge you may be able to bring to the WA Museum. Young people are encouraged to apply.

The closing date for all expressions of interests is Thursday 6 December 2018 and are to be sent via email to:
