Imaginative sculptures, paintings and pop art inspired by some of the best known artists in the world, and created by local primary school students, are going on display at the Museum of the Great Southern from tomorrow, Thursday 25 October.

Spencer Park Primary School’s biennial art exhibition showcases artwork from more than 300 students, including from the Spencer Park Education Support Centre. The theme for the exhibition is Artists of the World, with students’ work inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Andy Warhol and a host of other world-renowned artists.

Local Albany artists Gail Barker, Trish Williams, Marion McDougall and Donna Coyne, who are part of the School’s Artist in Residence program, have also donated pieces for the exhibition which are available for sale. Visitors to the exhibition can bid for these items via a silent auction.

Museum of the Great Southern manager Catherine Salmaggi said the Museum is excited to once again host this exhibition.

“We’re very happy to support such a wonderful program that inspires young students and gives them an opportunity to learn about and engage with culture and the arts. I encourage all Albany and Great Southern residents to come and see this exhibition and take the time to appreciate such wonderful displays of creativity.”

Artists of the World will be at the Museum of the Great Southern from 25 October until 7 November 2018.
